About Tia
Tia is internationally recognized as a champion for environmental stewardship and climate change solutions. Over her 17-year tenure at The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Tia served as Senior Policy Advisor for Latin America, working on financial and technical resources for parks and protected areas throughout the Southern Hemisphere. She was the first director of TNC’s Global Climate Change Initiative where she helped pioneer work on forest protection and restoration as a climate change solution. For this, she received the EPA’s Climate Protection Award in 2000.
Returning home to Wisconsin, Tia served as Executive Secretary to the Wisconsin Board of Commissioners of Public Lands and built unanimous bipartisan support for legislation that enabled the agency to increase its forest management efficiency while protecting rare ecosystems. She also co‐chaired the Governor’s Task Force on Global Warming.
In her spare time, Tia enjoys hiking, playing music, cultivating her garden, and cooking for her friends.
